Actinic Catalog by Sure Solutions Inc, is a good shopping cart. Actinic is very nice if you’re familiar with Windows navigation setup. It”s patterned after Windows dropdown navigation. It’s different then the browser-based software.
Feature Set:
The merchant needs to enter the products manually with Actinic Catalog. It’s possible to import products from a spreadsheet, but if you want to link to a product database you must buy Actinic Business or Developer edition. The products section has many configurable options. You can enter a description, price, use various tax forms, and use their cross-sell module. Digital products can also be set up to allow online delivery.
Ease of Use:
Once you get the hang of the Actinic navigation it’s quite simple to use. There is a steep learning curve and it’s a lot harder than the browser–based shopping carts.
Ease of Installation:
It’s easy to install Actinic on a local machine and you can get started on building your shop immediately. A complete website is generated by the program. The merchant builds his website from selecting from a range of supplied templates.
Help/Documentation:
Perhaps the most important attribute of good Shopping Cart software is the information and help the application provides. The help is good. They offer Email support and phone support. Actinic also provides a knowledge–base search engine, support forum, and an online community.
Summary:
Actinic Catalog is a good Shopping cart. If you prefer the non–browser based shopping carts, actinic would be perfect for you. Actinic Catalog is suitable for a basic shop selling a few items without customer accounts. The bottom line is that you can get a lot better software for just a little more money.
