ShopSite Pro is a decent eCommerce shopping cart designed for small and medium online businesses. This shopping cart software delivers powerful administrative controls and is conveniently web based, so you can access your site's back office from any device with an internet connection. ShopSite Pro may not have all of the features we looked for, but it is an effective eCommerce solution for online merchants.
When it comes to site design, a WYSIWYG editor is ideal if you don't have any experience with website coding. ShopSite Pro has this type of editor, which enables you to customize one of its premade site templates with just a few mouse clicks. The editor is not as robust or feature rich as others we've come across while reviewing shopping cart software, but it should be sufficient for most people. One thing we do like about the software's site design is that each product category you create gets its own site page. The pages are listed on a static left bar on your website, making a category tree that's easy to navigate. This helps organize your site in a logical manner and gives it a professional, streamlined appearance.
ShopSite Pro comes with most of the eCommerce features we expect in top-notch shopping cart software. It provides real-time credit card authorization through integrated payment gateways (ShopSite does not provide in-house payment processing), along with detailed sales, inventory and traffic reports. These reports are crucial because they give you valuable insight into how your site is performing and whether your current marketing strategies are working.
You can customize your checkout pages and configure your site's shipping and taxes based on your predetermined shipping destinations. If you don't need the Pro version's full range of functionality, ShopSite also offers Starter and Manager versions that are ideal for smaller stores with less demanding eCommerce needs.
The most glaring feature ShopSite lacks is support for partial shipments and backorders. It may seem insignificant, but if you are low on inventory, the inability to process partial shipments could lead to shopping cart abandonment and subsequently, lower sales. The shopping cart software also lacks a few marketing features such as a customer incentive program and a product comparison module. The success of your site is not dependant on either of these missing marketing tools, but their inclusion could potentially make your site more appealing and user friendly for prospective customers.
ShopSite Pro is respectable shopping cart software. You can use it to create a professional-looking website that's easy to navigate. It has detailed reporting options to help you successfully manage and build your online store. ShopSite Pro does not have all of the features we looked for, and its design editor could use some polish, but it is still a good choice for anyone looking for a new or replacement eCommerce shopping cart.
ShopSite provides comprehensive, real-time reports so you can thoroughly track your sales, site traffic and inventory.
This eCommerce shopping cart lacks partial shipment and backorder support.
ShopSite Pro isn't our top-ranked shopping cart software, but it performs well and can effectively help you build and maintain a successful online storefront.
